Psychiatrist - BHS

Behavioral Health Specialists, Inc., the largest community-based behavioral health care provider in Northeast Nebraska, has an opening for a Nebraska-licensed (or license-eligible) psychiatrist effective 10/15/2007. This job offers opportunities to provide general outpatient psychiatric services with an approximate 85% adult and 15% child population. This location (Norfolk, NE) offers the potential for college loan repayment through the National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program. Salary negotiable based on experience. Psychologist - BHS

BHS is currently seeking a full-time Psychologist in our Outpatient Mental Health program. The qualified candidate must be licensed or eligible for licensure or provisional licensure in psychology. A Doctoral degree (Ph.D/Psy.D) in a clinical or counseling psychology field is preferred. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:

  • Accurately assess for risk, formulate accurate diagnoses, provide comprehensive evaluations with clear recommendations, and develop treatment plans.
  • Provide individual, family and group therapy as assigned.
  • Work well with referring agencies.
  • Perform assessments of developmental, intellectual, and personality functioning.
  • Perform evaluations for determinations of appropriate placement for children.
  • Provide individual, family and group therapy services as assigned.
  • Supervise clinical cases as assigned, which may include clinical supervision of Provisionally Licensed Psychologists, clinical psychology interns, masters level therapists, and bachelors level staff.
  • Complete necessary clinical documents and evaluations in a timely manner.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Residential Alcohol/Drug Abuse Counselor

SOS is currently seeking a full-time Alcohol/Drug Counselor. Qualified candidates will hold LMHP or LADC licensure; however, provisionally licensed professionals will also be considered.  Qualified candidates will also be required to become Criminal Justice providers.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily: 

Care Planning & Delivery: 

  • Maintains a residential client caseload of eight to ten clients.
  • Teaches psycho-educational/lecture portions of the treatment program and alcohol/drug education as directed by the Program Director.
  • Completes comprehensive Initial Assessment/Alcohol & Drug Evaluations on clients.
  • Facilitates group therapy.
  • Conducts individual therapy, treatment planning, aftercare planning, and family/couple’s therapy sessions for his/her current caseload.
  • Provides referrals to other agencies/resources appropriate to client need.

Authorizations/Documentation:

  • Completes clinical documentation within timeframes given.
  • Completes all assigned authorizations/reauthorizations in a timely fashion.
  • Documents all client services/contacts in each client’s chart.

Crisis On-Call: 

  • Provides 24-hour emergency coverage duties, in-office or after-hours, as assigned.

Other:

  • Attends all departmental/program meetings.
  • Attain CPR, medication monitoring, and First Aid training
  • Completes other assignments as may be given by the Program Director.
  • Must comply with Agency policies and procedures, including those regarding conduct, confidentiality, and record keeping.

Human Service Tech - SOS Place

BHS is currently seeking a full-time Human Service Tech at Seekers of Serenity Place.  The qualified candidate must be over the age of 21 and would need to have a Bachelor's degree in the Human Services field from a four-year college or university; or one to two years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:

  • Assist residents in learning and practicing new behaviors, including responsibility with assignment and chores.

  • Ensure a clean and safe environment for clients and staff.

  • Monitor vital signs and mental status functioning of individuals.

  • Observe and record resident self-administration of medication.

  • Provide therapeutic interventions for inappropriate/unacceptable behaviors by helping residents identify what s/he needs and new ways of handling the situation.

  • Identify and document changes in behaviors, and notify other staff as needed.

  • Possess good oral/written communication skills.

  • Willingness to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

  • If recovering, a minimum of two years continuous sobriety is required.

  • Possess a Nebraska license with a good driving/safety record.

  • Other job-related requirements.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and must have the ability to lift 50 pounds.
